Brazilian. PhD in Spanish Phonetics and Phonology (University of São Paulo, 2010), with a specialization in the challenges faced by Brazilian learners of Spanish as a foreign language (E/LE). Holds a Master’s from UNED/CSIC (Madrid, 2009) and another from USP (2004), both focused on Spanish language acquisition by Brazilian students.
Currently a professor at São Paulo State University (UNESP/Araraquara), she has taught at several higher education institutions, including the University of São Paulo. Her areas of expertise include Spanish and Portuguese as foreign languages, Applied Linguistics, Phonetics and Phonology, Error Analysis, Contrastive Studies, and Translation.
She has presented at numerous conferences, published widely, and served as a consultant on Spanish language teaching and textbook evaluation. She also supervises undergraduate research and final thesis projects in her fields of specialization.
Spanish, from the south. Professional tutor and former journalist with more than 16 years of experience offering Spanish lessons to international professionals, as well as translations services and Spanish workshops. He began his career in journalism, working for nearly a decade in national media before making the transition in 2011 to focus exclusively on language teaching and translation.
José is a native Spanish speaker with a solid background in education, journalism, and literary translation. He has lived and worked in Latin America and English-speaking countries, which gives him a unique perspective when it comes to helping students navigate different accents, registers, and communication styles across the Spanish-speaking world. This multicultural awareness is at the core of his teaching philosophy.
Alongside his work as a tutor, José has translated novels, technical books , academic works, theatre scripts, television series, and global advertising campaigns. These experiences reinforce his commitment to serious work, precision, and clarity—values that shape every lesson at Embrujo Castellano.
