Taller de cocina española

El taller de cocina en español es parte de las actividades de la escuela de español Embrujo Castellano, donde aprenderás a cocinar la famosa “Tortilla Española” (Spanish omelette), or what is the same, the potato omelette, one of the most typical dishes of the Spanish gastronomy. To complete the experience cocinaremos también el famoso "Pisto Manchego" (made of tomatoes, onions, eggplant or courgettes, green and red peppers, and olive oil,  with a fried egg on top) and the well-renamed Spanish “Croquetas de puchero” (not those frozen ones from the restaurants).

Este taller está dirigido a personas que, en un contexto de aprendizaje e inmersión de la lengua y cultura española, quieran profundizar un poco más en uno de los aspectos más culturales de España, su cocina. 

With the excuse of practicing conversation in Spanish, in this “Spanish cooking Workshop,” we will spend around 3 hours of fun, in a bright and calm environment (its an spiritual center, by the way), learning and improving your Spanish, tasting a good wine or other drinks (beer, soft drinks or water), listening good Spanish music and, as the main activity, we will cook a real Tortilla Española, Pisto Manchego (from the region of Castilla La Mancha), and Croquetas de puchero.

Vegetarian activity

The controversy is always present, with or without onion. It is the hallmark of a Spaniard outside of Spain. There are Spanish tortilla masters who make them to eat with a spoon and others without so much technique who make authentic shoe soles. But any tortilla española you make will be the best in the world, because you will make it with your heart. Same with either the Pisto and Croquetas.

The “Tortilla española” is an easy vegetarian dish that can be eaten hot or cold, on a plate or in a sandwich, for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The “Pisto Manchego” is a great lunch if you combine it with a fried egg on top or with even some pieces of Iberic ham. If you don’t add anything else you will get a nice and tasted vegan dish. Simple but direct to the palate of the most knowledgeable. Healthy and filling meal. 

The famous “croquetas” or “cocretas according my mum”. Loved dish for adults and mainly for kids, as the texture (melted in your mouth), the colour and the flavour will hit you in your heart. This is part of our past, made by our grandmothers and their relatives earlier. A dish that never goes out of style, in fact, you can increasingly see “croqueterías” specializing in different types of croquettes.

If requested, the host can accommodate the dietary needs listed. You must let the host know before the experience if you’d like your needs to be accommodated.

Expect to have fun

You will feel like in a friday afternoon cooking with your spanish friends, with Spanish food, Spanish drinks and Spanish music, as if you were at home but in our wonderful kitchen with sea views.

We, in particular, have done thousands of those 3 meals, in many places, with different people and you know what? Everyone was amazed. This Spanish cooking workshop involves food, drinks (wine, beer and soft drinks), music and cooking. 

This is a lovely way to experience how the Spanish people live and their passion about to cook. Come with us and learn how to cook a real Tortilla española a proper Pisto Manchego and authentics croquetas.

• You’ll learn and cook your own “Tortilla Española”, “Pisto Manchego” and the famous “croquetas de puchero”, while having your favourite drink and talk to the teacher about Spanish food, / traditions / culture and many more things.
• Duration of the activity: 2h 30m / 3 hours.
• Run by a professional local Spanish teacher and cooking lover. Don’t worry if you don’t speak Spanish very well, he also speaks a good english and portuguese. 
• Nice wine/beer/soft drinks* to make it happier during the entire activity.
• Selection of Spanish tapas gourmet. (queso Manchego, chorizo 100% Ibérico, “Embrujo” salad…)
• Customized menu.
• You will take your own “Spanish food” at the end with your takeaway container.
• Spanish GOOD music meanwhile.
• Ingredients from organic/local markets: fresh vegetables and free range eggs (number 0). Vegetarian activity.
• A beautiful kitchen to share great moments while cooking Spanish food. The place has a great view to the sea, free filter water provided, lockers, showers, easy to park (free), in front of the beach (one of the best in Marbella city) and all the facilities needed. 
• Alternatively, we can take the Spanish cooking workshop to a preferred venue – example your villa or guest house. Provided we have full access to a kitchen. 
• Liability civil insurance.

This course lasts around 2h 30m / 3 hours approx. It should be enough time to:

• Talk a bit about the history of each ingredient and its meaning in  the Spanish culture.
• Practicar el vocabulario específico que vamos a emplear (ingredientes, cubiertos, verbos, situaciones, etc.)
• Have nice drinks (wine, beer or soft drinks for everybody)
• Poner buena música española.
• Cortar, preparar, cocinar, probar y eat the food you cook.
• ¡Y divertirte!

Nuestra bonita cocina, soleada y espaciosa, tiene capacidad para más de 20 personas. Fácil para aparcar and literally right in front of the beach. Located around 20 min walking distance centro de Marbella, con diferentes opciones de autobús y taxis económicos. Pero recomendamos fuertemente venir caminando, siempre.

Come walking, it’s worthy

El camino que va desde el centro de Marbella discurre por una senda litoral de madera, entre dunas protegidas, la brisa del mar y la playa a un lado. Vale la pena el paseo. Recuerda: es una actividad que incluye bebidas alcohólicas, por lo que, “si bebes, no conduzcas”.

The kitchen is located in a building dedicated to the cultivation of the mind and well-being, where you will feel in a place of peace, ideal for carrying out this loving activity that is cooking.

En un ambiente luminoso y tranquilo, we will choose our own music, according to our tastes and the moment (100% Spanish, but the good one). Solo necesitas venir queriendo speak Spanish (with a professional teacher), have a good time and taste our delicious wine while we learn the tricks to make a good Spanish “tortilla española” (with potatoes and onion) and “Pisto Manchego”. And in the end you will take it home!

We also have another kitchen available, located in an apartment in the center of Marbella. This kitchen is more flexible and accessible, making the activity viable even for one or two participants. Ask us about our alternative kitchen.
